The digital landscape of the energy industry continues to rapidly evolve. To ensure the workforce stays ahead of the curve, the Energy Providers Coalition for Education (EPCE) and Excelsior University are thrilled to announce the expansion of EPCE-sponsored online programs.Three new pathways designed to bridge the gap between energy operations and cutting-edge technology are available in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. These programs are:

A.A.S. in Computer Technologies

This program focuses on preparing students for technician roles in computer technology-related industries. The goal of the program is to enable students to apply their knowledge from the degree program to real-world computer technology-based industries.

B.S. in Computer Science

Meticulously designed to equip students with a robust foundation in computer science theory, this program combines practical skills in software development and systems management. The curriculum is structured to provide a holistic education that prepares students not only for the technical challenges but also for the societal and ethical dimensions of computing.

B.S. in Cybersecurity

This program is aligned with the academic requirements for cybersecurity set by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and will provide students with the ability to enhance technical knowledge and skills in cybersecurity. Program concentrations for this degree include a general track and cyber operations track.

"Expanding these program offerings through EPCE reflects our commitment to meeting the evolving talent needs of the energy and technology sectors,” said David Schejbal, Excelsior University president. “By adding high‑quality programs in computer technologies, computer science, and cybersecurity, we are building new pathways for working adults to gain the critical skills that modern industries rely on. These degrees are designed to be flexible, career‑focused, and aligned with industry standards, ensuring learners can advance their education while strengthening the workforce of the future.”

“As the energy grid becomes smarter and more interconnected, the demand for cybersecurity and computer science expertise has never been higher," said Gary Pfann, director, executive and staff education at NRECA and EPCE governance member. "EPCE”s newest offerings further strengthen its alignment with our industry's latest talent needs, supporting a skilled and professional workforce that understands both energy delivery and the digital systems that manage it."

“The energy sector offers many quality jobs that support an array of rewarding career trajectories,” said Earl Buford, CAEL president. “CAEL and EPCE are proud to partner with Excelsior University to expand flexible and affordable education pathways that connect adult learners to these opportunities and meet critical workforce needs.”
